ISS Learning Commons

Our Vision:

The ISS Learning Commons is a welcoming and inspiring place where collaborative as well as independent learning and creating flourishes. Users feel at home, connected, and included. The Learning Commons team aspires to provide specialized expertise, environments, and resources which will assist students and others in constructing a deeper understanding of the world and of our responsibilities within it.

We have four libraries across our campuses, as well as multiple resources for digital learning  – all together these make-up our Learning Commons. We hope you will use this site as a starting point when searching for information.

About the ISS Learning Commons:

  • Lower School Library Degerloch
    • Located on the third floor of the Lower School building, the library provides space for comfortable reading, tables for working, and a multipurpose Media Room which houses a collection of iPads and laptop cart, as well as a developing collection of Makerspace equipment.
    • The collection contains children’s picture books, fiction and non-fiction for 3-12-year-olds, as well as literacy materials

  • Upper School Library Degerloch
    • Located on the second floor of the Upper School building, the Library provides space for studying, reading, and group work. Tables, chairs, sofas and booths provide a variety of seating for a variety of purposes. The space extends into the hallway, and is a student learning area throughout the entire day.
    • The collection contains fiction and non-fiction for 12-18-year-olds, as well as magazines, CDROMS, and DVDs.

  • Primary Years Library Sindelfingen
    • Located on the first floor, across from the Musiteria, the Primary Library is a friendly, open space with room for comfortable reading and some table-seating.
    • The collection contains children’s picture books, fiction and non-fiction for 3-12-year-olds, as well as literacy materials

  • Middle Years Library Sindelfingen
    • A newly created and developing space, the Middle Years Library is located in Treffpunkt Learning, as you enter the building. Carousel bookstands and seating are available in addition to group work tables and individual seating.
    • The collection contains fiction and non-fiction for 12-16-year-olds, as well as magazines.

In addition to the Library Services, the Learning Commons also offers resources and support, for teachers and students, from the Digital Learning Specialist.  Many of the resources can found on this website, and for further help in using the web resources, your devices, or for planning, please contact Anja Junginger.
